My name is Wceruon836, and this is my personal fansite for the 1997 Shoot-em'-up, Einhander, by Square Enix (previously Squaresoft). Most of the art used here is either illustrated by Kazuaki Fukumura, who did many of the game's gallery illustations, or me. I'll try to give a notice when it's art I drew, or if it's art by other people. This guide will include as much information as I can think of, such as stage layouts, guidebook and manual information, as well as info about bossfights and the game's lore and story.
Einhander follows an event known as The Second Moon War.
This was a war in which the Moon faction, known as Selene, wages war against the Sodom Empire on Earth in order to re-retrieve the "Holy Land" of Sodom/Gesetz from them, a succession to the previous first ever inter-galactic war between Selene and Sodom, which was a resource war waged by Selene for nitrogen-based agriculture on Earth from Sodom.
The Second Moon War had so far been a losing battle for Selene, but give one last shot after creating special space/air-craft dubbed "Einhander" by Sodom forces, as well as being used a colloquial name for the fighter crafts.
In the game, you play as a pilot from Selene, in which you go on a suicidal mission to the Earth to gather forced reconaissance of Sodom's "Imperial Capital", stealing weaponry with the ship's manipulator, while piloting the "Einhander" spacecraft.
Einhander includes 7 stages, each with one mid-boss and one end-boss. With this each stage includes two sections.
Each ship has either one or two machine guns, which act as a base weapon, but to deal better damage, stealing weapons from enemies is much more useful, and encouraged.
The d-pad is used to move around the stage.
The X button fires your main weapon. To switch weapons using 'Astraea FGA Mk.I' and 'Endymion FRS Mk.II' and to switch the side of your manipulator's weapon using 'Endymion FRS Mk.III', the O button is used.
R2 is used to accelerate, and L2 is used to de-accelerate you ship. When using 'Astraea FGA Mk.I' or 'Endymion FRS Mk.II', the Square button is used to fire machine gun.
To pause the game, press the 'Start' button. Lastly, to switch "Gunpods", L1 and R1 are used.
